Mindspring customers
Outgoing Mail Problems
This problem does not effect users that are using WebMail to access their email.
PROBLEM:
Mindspring customers will not be able to use their outgoing SMTP mail servers (www.yourdomain.com) that are provided to them with their hosting account. Mindspring blocks all outgoing email if you aren't using their own SMTP servers. If you are using your own SMTP servers you will see the following error or an error close to this one:
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'youraccount', Server: 'www.yourdomain.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
SOLUTION:
You will have to use Earthlink's outgoing mail servers for all of your email accounts. Earthlink's mail server is mail.earthlink.net . Your email will still be from your own domain name, the only difference is in the way it is routed throughout the Internet. Instead of being sent through our servers it is processed through Earthlink servers.
To stop spam (unsolicited, bulk e-mail) and in an effort to be a better Internet neighbor, MindSpring requires that their customers use only MindSpring servers to send e-mail when connected to a MindSpring access number.
Acceptable SMTP Servers
You will need to use the SMTP server that corresponds to your domain as shown below.
Username@domain SMTP Server --------------------------------------------------- username@mindspring.com smtp.mindspring.com username@pipeline.com smtp.pipeline.com username@sprynet.com smtp.sprynet.com username@interserv.com smtp.interserv.com username@ix.netcom.com smtp.ix.netcom.com username@travelin.com smtp.travelin.com
